Guadeloupe Inspires Jungelen

Guadeloupe has rhythm. Blend African, French and Indian culture, and naturally enough unique musical styles are born, styles specific to this incredible Caribbean archipelago. This series of islands is a melting pot which has enticed other cultures to establish communities there, from the likes of Brazil, Haiti, Lebanon and Syria. So it’s perhaps no surprise that rhythmic dance and music is so popular in Guadeloupe, considering the traditional and popular music culture of these welcome influencers.
After a recent visit to Guadeloupe, Simon Alejandro (Jungelen) has returned to Norway chock full with inspiration. After successfully drum-dancing the hell out of the Victoria Pub, Bergen with the percussive ensemble Jungelen 90, it’s time for a new Jungelen radio show.
And so with Guadalupian sand still clearly between his toes, Simon maintains his flow by bringing a taste of Brazil to the Vers Libre. This time around, Os Loucos are his special guests in the studio performing a live acoustic track, and discussing how they came to be. It's the usual, or unusual top notch selection of vinyl cuts from Simon, this time with a hefty Brazilian theme.
