"This mix is an experiment of connecting my old collection with newly found material and fresh releases. Starting oriental, intro from Iraq, going east to grooves from India (fused with some dub), all mixed with glitches, breaks and dark magic with a happy ending. Including three Palestinian label releases: tracks from Muqata’s latest album release “Kamil Manqus كَامِل مَنْقوص”; the track ‘xx7xx’ by Ramallah-based producer Dakn from Haifa-based record label “Mediteranos” compilation “The Flood”, and a track by MDM COLUMBIA on Meds VII release." - NRD
NRD’s background in music is classical oriental, and he played the qanun since childhood in the Edward Said National Conservatory of music. Classic knowledge met with electronic beats later in his teenage years, when Palestinian rap started rising up by people in the Ramallah underground like DAM and we7. In high school he was introduced to classic dubstep, which gave a new dimension to music - dance music.
In 2014, NRD started roaming Palestine clubs in Ramallah, Haifa, and Bethlehem, playing at parties and organising gigs. With fellow friends and family, he co-founded Radio Nard, the first Arab independent live radio. They hosted many DJs from Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt, and had underground nights happening around town or broadcasting randomly with various discoveries by surrounding good ears.
