The Koha Project Returns — Live Music Sessions in 2022

The KOHA project returns for a new round of live performances in 2022, filmed and hosted by Vers Libre. Born during the pandemic, KOHA is a performance medium for new artists looking to reach their audience.
This year, we commissioned three emerging artists (Bo Milli, KROMOPLASTIK and Olalys) and a music collective — Wellhaven Kollectiv from Bergen, to perform at two different locations; our own Vers Libre radio studio and a recording studio at cultural partner Bergen Kjøtt.
Our live sessions covered multiple musical genres from across the audio and visual spectrum.
We are honoured to present,
Saturday 22. October
16.00 — Bo Milli
To kickstart the sessions, we are excited to have singer-songwriter Bo Milli @bo__milli with guitarist Markus @markusmatland performing a cosy set at our radio station.
“I like it when songs are embarrassing,” says Bo Milli. “And I know every single embarrassing thing I’ve ever done.” The 22-year-old Norwegian musician has spent the past two years documenting her experience coming of age during a global pandemic. There were a lot of self-reflective moments, sure, but the subject matter moves beyond trying to process the inability to escape her own busy mind. “The climate crisis comes into everything,” she says. “I try not to let it, but it’s the backdrop to everything I write. It makes everything very trivial, which shapes my music but also my attitude.” The result? Brutally honest indie pop songs that perfectly articulate the struggles of an entire generation.
19.00 — KROMOPLASTIK (Marius Bakke), amalgamate sound artist, and visual artist Olalys (Ola Lysgaard) invited us into their incredibly immersive kaleidoscopic experience.
KROMOPLASTIK (Marius Bakke)
KROMOPLASTIK is Marius Bakke’s live solo project. Being fascinated by any and all sounds stemming from a 303 synth, KROMOPLASTIK paints musical landscapes to get carried away in: from the dark, illustrious, gloomy depths of acid to the immersive plains of his ambient dreams. KROMOPLASTIK is otherworldly, yet the sounds of his hardware prove successful in finding a way to belong here.
Olalys (Ola Lysgaard)
Olalys is a Bergen based artist who likes to draw and dance. In his VJ sets, these passions are combined into something really unique. By manipulating generative video feedback, he creates performative live video works that grow and move in step with the music.
Sunday 23. October – Welhaven Kollektiv — a collective of artists, producers and musicians showcasing various combinations of musical goodness.
Welhaven Kollektiv is a sonic and visual group from Bergen that produces, performs and curates music, art and several different forms of expression.
The collective now want to present five of its members and their musical constellations: Duvét, Edvard Borneo, Matte Juno, Christian Etwin and Tinius. During the session, this group will present a soundscape ranging from 60's rock, folk 'n' roll, bedroom pop, indie rap and funky beats. The composition of the artists' performance aims to reflect on the Collective's spread within various musical expressions and thus create new cultural impressions.
